April 25th, 2016 – HAMILTON – It’s the story the whole music industry is talking about, Kesha, the artist formerly known as Ke$ha, is suing her producer Dr. Luke for sexual abuse. The singer has received an outpour of support from other artists like Lady GaGa, Adele, and Taylor Swift, and even producers like Zedd have shown support, as she recently joined him on stage at Coachella to perform his hit song “True Colors.”
Stand with Kesha is an event that will take place on Friday May 6th at the Steel Lounge, located at 197 King William Street in Hamilton. The night will consist of a variety of tribute performances, including several musical performances. The event is being organized by Red Pants Productions, a Hamilton based theatre and event management company. All the money raised from the event will go directly to SACHA and Halton Women’s Place.
Guest speakers and representatives from SACHA (the Sexual Assault Centre for Hamilton and Area) and Halton Women’s Place will be on hand at the Steel Lounge for anyone who is looking for information on what their services provide. On the selection of the organizations to be featured at the event, Adam Bryan of Red Pants Productions said “We really wanted to highlight organizations that help people who are or have been in similar situations as Kesha. People who have been either sexually, physically, or emotionally abused and need support.”
